The EJ Grassman Trust has awarded CSEY a grant of $ 7,500 to support facility upgrades at the Camp's Equestrian Center.

"We are thrilled with the generous support awarded by the EJ Grassman Trust!" enthused CEO, Cherie Hammond.  "These funds will enable us to replace the roof and convert the current grass instructional arena to a much safer sand arena."

Camp Speers-Eljabar YMCA experienced a 28% increase in the Camp's summer equestrian program participation in 2011 from 2010. "Our equestrian programs not only offer excellent instruction for every level of rider from the brand new novice through advanced, we emphasize building a relationship between rider and horse.  This includes teaching and enabling the riders to care for the horses." Hammond noted.  "With the increase in participation in our equestrian programs, we needed to expand and enhance the facilities to accommodate more riders.  We also needed to replace the barn roof as the current one is over 25 years old."

On behalf of all the equine minded folks and their trusty steeds at Camp Speers-Eljabar YMCA, our thanks go to the EJ Grassman Trust for their generous support of our Equestrian Center!
