Cherie HammondCherie Hammond rejoined Camp Speers-Eljabar YMCA in May of 2005 as the Chief Operating Officer. Cherie was originally associated with Camp as the Eljabar Program Director during the summer of 1981 and then as the Associate Director for Camp Eljabar and Conferences 1982-1983. She then served as the Youth & Special Program Director at the Morris Center YMCA and later as Senior Program Director at the Princeton Family YMCA. While at the Princeton YMCA she served on the Interim Management Team during an eight month period while the association was without an Executive Director. In addition to Cherie’s YMCA work, she served as the Director of Conferences and Events Planning for Johnson State College; as the Program Associate for Marketing and Training for World Learn, Inc and just prior to her return to CSEY she served as the Coordinator of Lamoille Valley Success By Six. Throughout her 25+ years of work in non-profit human services, Cherie has developed and utilized skills in operational management, marketing and sales, public policy advocacy, staff development, and financial management. Cherie was recognized by the by the Vermont Association for the Education of Young Children for advocacy on behalf of young children and their families. She was awarded a citation by the Governor’s Highway Safety Commission by then VT Governor Howard Dean for work she lead to improve child passenger safety laws in VT. Cherie has an A.S. in Recreation and Leisure Service from Morris County College. She has a B.S. in Outdoor Recreation Management from Centenary College. She has also obtained her Senior Director Certification through the YMCA of the USA’s Professional Development Program. Cherie is a member of the NJ YMCA COO Network and the NJ chapter of the American Camp Association. She served as chair for the 2008 NE YMCA Camping Conference and is the Vice President of the Milford-Matamoras Rotary. Cherie along with her husband, Marty; 12 year old daughter, Katie and 2 year old English springer spaniel, Tucker call Camp home. |
Daniel DeetsDaniel Deets has had a love of camp since he first went to day camp as a 6 year old. After years of working with teens and children in other non profit organizations, he came to the YMCA on the recommendation of a supervisor.
